Top Ten Ways To Detox Weed Naturally

When it comes to naturally cleansing your body some of the best ways to detox for weed are actually quite simple and easy to do. THCfreeimage-7747436 which is the active chemical in weed and is what gives it its hallucinogenic properties is not water soluble like alcohol but is fat soluble so the detox times for weed no longer being detectable in your system will be different for each person. There are however a number of things that are simple, safe, and cheap to do that can in some cases help drastically reduce the amount of time it takes to detox for weed

My Personal Top Ten Best Ways to Detox Weed

1. Drink lots of water. While being well hydrated is certainly one of the ways to detox weed from your system, it is not a magic solution. What drinking lots of water does is simple, it keeps the body well hydrated and healthy which is one of the most important things to do when you are trying to get your body to use all its extra resources to help detox for THC and is especially important when you consider the next way to cleanse for marijuana naturally.

2. Get Plenty of Exercise.  Because marijuana is fat soluble and sticks to the fat cells of your body, the more body fat you have the longer it’s going to take to detox for weed. This doesn’t have to mean going to the gym and lifting weights, anything that keeps you active and burning calories is going to be good. The best way to detox weed through exercise is to use a combination of both weight lifting and cardio type training like swimming or running which will burn fat and help speed up the metabolism which in turn means detoxing from weed that much quicker.

3. Drink Lemon Juice. Lemons contain very high levels of Vitamin C which is a very important electrolyte and also a great way to detox weed naturally. It is best if you get your own fresh lemons from the grocery store as store bought juice will not have the same potency as fresh squeezed lemons. In order to make your own healthy lemonade just add some honey to sweeten it up.

4. Eat Lots of Green Vegetables. Green vegetables like kale, broccoli, spinach, and chard are super high in vitamins and minerals like iron. Eating lots of vegetables helps to detox THC out of the body by boosting the metabolism and providing the body the essential nutrients it needs to quicken the natural marijuana detox.

5. Take Niacin Supplementfreeimage-5301203s.  Niacin which is also known as vitamin B-3 and is a great way to detox weed naturally because of its many benefits which include boosting the metabolism which helps to burn fat. Niacin can also be found in many common foods such as tuna, avocados, chicken, peanuts, and potatoes. Whiles some people experience a slight itchiness called a “flush” a few minutes after taking it which is just the niacin working through your body, there are now many kinds of niacin available that are “flush” free.

6. Visit a Sauna. This may require having to join a health club but it will be well worth it when it comes to detoxing THC. Although there is no  medical evidence that suggests a direct link between sweating and passing a drug test it can help to naturally eliminate toxins from your body which helps both with detoxing marijuana but general health as well. Don’t forget to replace all of the fluids lost with water and electrolytes, also as saunas can get very hot it is a good idea to start out with smaller amounts of time at first.

7. Avoid Junk Foods and Red meat. Many junk foods such as potato chips, ice cream, fast food, and so on are unhealthy in general but when it comes to detoxing weed they certainly don’t help. many such foods are high in sodium which causes water retention, in addition to being high in sugar and fat which slows the metabolism without giving the body the nutrients it needs. Instead focus on highly nutritious foods like fruits and vegetables.Use Fruits and Vegetables As a Way to Detox Weed

8. Eat Lots of healthy Fiber. Many sources of healthy fiber can come in the form of grains, whole wheat that has not been enriched, as well as a food group called legumes which include peas, peanuts, soybeans, lentils, and beans. By providing your body the needed nutrients to detox marijuana you will be giving your body an extra boost as well as improving your own health at the same time.

9. Drink herbal and Green Tea. There are several kinds of tea that are said to aid the body in detoxing for marijuana naturally. One of them is Dandelion tea which is said to help the liver to eliminate toxins from the body. Green Tea is also a great way to give the body a boost not just during a detox but on a regular basis as well because of the high levels of antioxidants and electrolytes it contains such as Vitamin-C. The small amount of caffeine it contains also as the effect of helping to boost the metabolism and burn excess fat.

10. Eat Smaller Portions. By breaking your means into 5 to 6 small meals spread out evenly throughout the day you can vastly improve the rate at which your metabolism burns. This is perhaps one of the best ways to detox weed naturally because the more fat you can burn the less time you will have THC in your system. It is always important to remember to eat balanced meals that contain nutrients, carbohydrates, lean protein, unsaturated fats. Which is why it is very important to include lots of fruits and vegetables.

There you have it, ten ways to detox weed naturally. It is important to remember that people react different to different things so it is always a good idea to consult a doctor about your general health as well as sensitivity to particular foods or nutritional products before making any drastic changes in your diet or lifestyle while going through your marijuana cleanse. I hope this was helpful and please keep in mind that naturally detoxing for weed takes time and there is no fool-proof method. However when these methods are used sensibly they can greatly aid the the process of getting weed out of your system.

  1. Hey There Admin,
Thanks for the info, Twelve days ago I took two hits of weed from a pipe. It was the first time I had smoked weed in months, and I have never been a regular user. On Friday I discovered that my new job may drug test me. So far they have not asked, but I am going to go ahead and assume they will just to be prepared. So, what are my chances of passing a drug test? I weigh about 220 pounds and have a naturally slow metabolism. I am currently healing from a broken ankle, so I am not exercising at the moment. I do drink a lot of water and mostly eat healthy, but do indulge in junk food a few times a week. I am about to have to miss two weeks of work, and am hoping that if they decide to test me that will buy me some time, but if not, will it have passed out of my system by then? I’m assuming it will be a urine test.

And if I do need to detox, what are some legit ways of doing so? I don’t trust all these detox kits I keep seeing around. Is there a natural way to do it that won’t set off alarm bells?
    Good Job!

    1. Hey and thanks for stopping by. If I understood you correctly, you have two weeks until your test. If that’s the case then you probably don’t have anything to worry about since there was not THC already in your system. Since this is your livelihood at stake I would suggest that you get a home marijuana test so you can know for sure if you’re positive or not.
Aside from that try to sweat as much as you can, if you can’t run then swim or even better, go to a sauna every day until you take the drug test. Niacin is also a naturally detoxifying, as are fruits and vegetables so try to load up on healthy foods and stay away from junk food until you pass the drug test.
If you have any more questions feel free to ask and best of luck on your test.

  2. I have a “friend” that is a regular smoker, and the clinic she goes to (not pain mgmt) is going to test her, urine analysis done by nurse. How can she get cleaned up for appt. Any advise greatly appreciated

    1. Hi. It sounds like your friend needs something that will act fast as apposed to letting time help detox. In that case there isn’t really time to let the THC naturally be cleansed and the best option would be to go with a high quality natural THC detox. The particular one that will be right will depend on how much your friend weighs, how much they smoke, and how long until the test but some really great optons can be found on the Test Clear website

  3. I get tested in a month I’m gonna do all these things including getting a gym membership for the sauna room. Should I go on the keto diet to help piss out fat faster? What are your thoughts on Keto/Atkins diet for a detox?

    1. Doing everything on the list as well as going to the gym is definitely going to help speed the process. A sauna will help but detoxing is more about losing body fat and speeding up the metabolism than just sweating. Going to a sauna is good but make it a part of the overall plan to get clean.
As far as the Keto/Atkins diet I would say whatever exact diet works for you but just remember not to make any extreme changes in diet or caloric intake as well as making sure you are getting a well rounded nutritional intake.

  4. Hi. Thanks for great advised. So I just smoke the very pure and strong one last week on 25/10/13 for a night out , I’m not a regularly user I’m occasionally user. And today I just knew that on next month 26/11/13 i will have a drug test and i’m a bit worry about it. I don’t know if the THC will get out of my body within a month without detoxing or not? I’ve heard of drinking a cranberry juice can really help and taking a vitamin B 12 can makes your urine more yellow. Im a bit freaking out because If i won’t pass, then I’m screwed. Any comments. and advises for this. Thanks a lot

    1. As long as you haven’t been regulary smoking weed then a month should be enough time to get it out of your systems. The two things I would reccomend would be to try to get in good shape and lose as much body fat as you can. The other is to get a home marijuana drug test kit and use it to make sure you are clean. If you get close to the date and are still hot then I would start looking into detox drinks.

  5. I have been marijuana-free for over 30 days and I am still testing positive 🙁 I am being tested as early as the 15th. I have been drinking water as much as possible and sweating as much as I can (sauna, exercise, even dressing overly warm). This test could pretty much make or break me and I’m so scared! I bought a B-Complex and cranberry supplement today (I have no intentions of taking more than 125% the recommended amount of niacin). Do you have any other advice? What should/shouldn’t I do in the 24 hours before the test. Please help!

  6. Thanks a lot for this advice, it is greatly appreciated… However, what will help cure the crave for weed if you’re a regular smoker?

    1. You have to do more than just stop smoking weed, you have to fill the void that not smoking anymore leaves in your life. Try to stay busy being doing fun and positive things that keep you busy. This not only keeps you occupied but is also necessary to forming new habits and behaviors that will make it possible to remain smoke free for the rest of your life. Make sure that you have some good books or movies, make plans with friends or take trips even if they are just an evening downtown or a visit to the museum. This also helps to remind you that the best things in life are the most fun when you’re sober and actually living in the moment and truly experiencing it as apposed to just being blazed and watching your life float by. In the long run you will be a much happier, successful and fulfilled person if you give up smoking weed as a central focal point in your life.
Best of luck and I wish you success

      1. Thank you. That’s wonderful advice. I started smoking for pain from spinal stenosis and a fear of Alzheimer’s (I’m late 60s) and now I want to stop 3 years later and I’m finding it very very challenging. I get irritated and angry very easy; and despite my firm resolutions I smoke again. I’ve been to a few Marijuana Anonymous meetings by phone and they’re helpful. I do like this advice to plan lots of fun things and I’ll be seeing a lot of movies over the next week. Thanks.

        1. Hi Pochko,
Thank you for stopping by and sharing your story and I’m glad that you were able to learn something helpful. Its all a matter of being able to remain strong enough to just change your habits. Once you put a little bit of distance between you and weed then you begin to see that while it may have seemed fun at the time reality can be just as much fun.

  7. Hello,

I was wondering how long would it take me to have a negative drug test? I have a potential job and they do drug screening for 5 drugs one being marijuana. I smoke on a regular basis during the weekend but nothing low quality. I want to be clean for this test? Help?

  8. I am in a pool for random drug testing. I have to stay clean (test wise) and I keep getting into situations where I end up blazing. What technique is the best way to get detoxed?

    1. The best and only sure fire way to get clean is to stop smoking weed altogether. If you might be drug tested at work and could lose your job then the best thing to do would be to avoid people and places that might make you smoke weed. Aside from that the only two other things you can do are stay as lean and healthy as possible or to purchase a good detox drink to have handy if you ever do get tested at work.

  9. This was the best website my friend and i came informative! Thank you so much for publishing real, true, usable information that helps. My friend has 28 days to pass a urine:
    here are his measurements:
    6 feet
    165 lbs.
He is very slim, lean, (if i had to guess, i would say 10-11% body fat), and has been a heavy smoker since June of this year, 2013.

If he implements most of your ideas everyday or almost everyday, how long do you think it will take to get his THC out of his system? Given that he stops smoking now, of course,

  10. I have a drug test coming up for a court date. I’m a heavy user i smoke everyday. I have three weeks and a couple days until my court date. I weigh about 100 pounds and my metabolism is high. Have you tried this and does it really work? I really need to pass. does certo really work?

    1. Hi Katie,
I would recommend that you do three things. The first is to follow all of the things mentioned in the article like eating well and exercising. The second would be to buy several home marijuana drug tests in order to see how clean you are now and if you will be clean in time. The third thing would be to go ahead and buy a high quality detox kit if you know from your home tests that you’re still positive for THC.
Drug tests and be bought cheaply online or at any drugstore or big retail store like Walmart. It almost goes without saying but you should do absolutely everything you can to avoid either smoking marijuana or being around people when they’re smoking as you could still breath in some of the smoke and lessen your chances of passing.
Best of luck and I hope this helped you some

    2. First thing to do is buy a home drug test to know for sure if your clean. Then if not I would reccomend a detox kit to help you pass. really good website to check out is right here, or you can also find them in head shops

  11. I swim every daay for about 3-5 hkurs and sit in a sauna for 30 mins everyday… I havnt smoked in six months or so and I smoked three times in one week will I be ok considering my swiming and other exercise if I test in a week?

  12. I need help! I may be getting my foot into the door of my dream job within two weeks. I am a medical marijuana user and although I have a prescription I dont think the people who I want to work for care so I really would like to test clean. I would like to be able to use medication at least once or twice a day as needed but how do I do this and still give a clean test?? Im not the healthiest eater and I think I have a pretty normal basic metabolism. I weight 180 and am 5’6 20 yrs old. Not much exercise other than walking my dogs and what not.

    1. That’s a tricky situation you find yourself in and it may come down to a decision between your dream job and getting high. Unless you have a serious medical condition I would have to say you should quit smoking pot in order to avoid the whole problem. If you still want to smoke then there’s really no magical way to keep using and be able to test clean. If you just need to test clean once and will have time to prepare for future tests then a good marijuana detox drink would work just fine. You can buy them in head shops or from online store like this website.

  13. Hi I Have not smoked for about 2weeks before then it was for 2 months I may have a test in the next few days I ve drinkin green and White tea and water everyday. Am I Good?

    1. Most likely I would say that you will be fine but its always better to be safe than sorry so the best thing to do is to buy a home drug test to know for sure. They can be bought in pharmacies or online from a site, the link is right here

    1. The only way you will be clean in time is to buy a marijuana detox kit. These can be found in head shops or some place like GNC. Or if you have time I would recommend buying one from this website here. They have been in business a long time and make high quality products

  14. Hey, I stopped smoking pot on 12/2/13 and didn’t smoke again until 12/26/13 and again on 1/1/14 each time was just a Blunt. About how long do you think it will take me to detox my system for an upcoming job screen.
    Greatly Appriciated.
-Also include ways I should detox if nessecary.

    1. Its going to be difficult to say exactly because everyone is different. The first thing to do is to get a home marijuana drug test to see what your status is. You can order them online from a website right here or they can be bought in any pharmacy. The second thing to do is if you are still testing positive then you will need to get a marijuana detox kit which can also be bought online here.
      Best of luck

  15. hey there, I smoked pot 4 days in a row about 2 days ago, prior to that it was usually about once every 2 weeks. I weigh about 63 kg and am about 160 cm, so i have a reasonably fast metabolism. I know you probably get sick of these kind of questions but i was just chasing some kind of ball park figure.

    1. Its going to be hard to come up with an exact number but I would say between three and six weeks. The time will depend upon factors like potency of week smoked, your metabolism, and the amount of body fat that you have. In order to get an exact figure I would recommend getting a home drug test to check your exact status.

  16. I have smoked for heavily for nearly 40 years and have stopped smoking for 6 weeks now. How long does it take to get out of your system? I am not overweight.

    1. There unfortunately isn’t a golden rule as to how long it will take to detox THC from your system but generally six weeks is long enough. If you have time before your test then the best thing to do is to get a home drug test to see how you’re testing.

  17. i havnt smoked any weed for 23 days now and i dont intend to and i dont crave weed either, but i am having loads of withdrawals from not doing it like anxeity paranoia depression and i struggle to sleep. will detoxing and eating well help get rid of these because its affecting my daily life my moods and my relationship. thanks 🙂

  18. hey i have been weed free for 23 days nows and i was a daily smoker. i dont crave weed and i dont intend to smoke it again because i am experienceing withdrawals that are affecting my daily life and my relationships. my withdrawals include paranoia, anxeiety, depression, insomnia loss of appitite and mood swings. i would like to know if trying your detoxing tips will help my withdrawals go away? please help i will be very greatful 🙂

    1. Hi, Congratulations on making it 23 days! That’s amazing and you are definitely on the home stretch and for most people the withdraw symptoms will begin to subside after a month to six weeks. It may be longer depending on your individual brain chemistry and how long you smoked but the hard part is over. As far as the symptoms you are experiencing, doing everything on the list will definitely help to hasten the detox time but the three biggest thing I would recommend would be exercise, eating well, and some form of relaxation or meditation. Working out will provide and outlet for the negative energy as well as boosting your metabolism which will help you to eat. Exercising is also one of the best ways to increase neurological growth in your brain and help get you functioning 100% mentally as well as giving you lots of natural feel good drugs like dopamine and endorphins. Eating well will help you to feel better faster as well as speeding up your metabolism. Lastly is the relaxation. This is very important because it will not only give you a way to get rid of the anxiety and depression but also help you to begin to retrain your brain to respond to stress in a new way which will have a positive effect on you for the rest of your life.
Good luck and keep us posted as to your progress

    2. Red, I made it about 15 days recently and picked up again. Do not do that. Damnit. I’m stuck on the hamster wheel again. As our host alluded to, I’m sitting watching my life go by rather than actively living it.

Congratulations…. say a prayer I get to 23 days soon.

      1. That’s great, congratulations. How do you feel now in comparison to what you felt like the first few days after quitting? I’m sure the readers would appreciate another person story of before and after.
        Best of luck

  19. I was a heavy user 3to 4 blunts a day ! I stop smoking Monday an have to take a drug test the following Tuesday
Im 5’9 195lb wrk out three times a week I’m drinking cera seed a cranberry juice
    Will I past ?

    1. Its really hard to say exactly but because you used to be a frequent smoker I would say probably not. The best thing to do is to get a home drug test and see where you stand, if your testing positive then I would start to look into detox products.

    1. With so little information its impossible to say. My advice is go buy a drug test and eliminate the guessing.
      Good luck

  20. I’ve been smoking since i was 12, i am 46 and literally woke up 3 days ago and decided to give my brain a chance on being rid of weed. I do love it, i admit, i feel it’s helped me with a ton of my creativity in my job and life. I own my own business. No one is making me quit and there is no test to fear. however, i am becoming depressed and immobile. moving seems difficult. my body is aching as in stiff, hard to get up. i’m tired and yet i suffer from insomnia. To be honest this all started prior to quitting, and maybe part of my desire to quit. the past month or so, my memory was getting incredibly worse, and aches are un bearable. I want to live. I want to really live a good life and be rid of this feeling that i’m smoked my life away. i will try your 10 steps to help, although i feel i need a few days of just doing nothing to really allow myself some time. i’m so happy about this decision, and then i’m depressed about being so lonely. Anyone reading this should know, Pot can leave you completely alone. I guess i have no question. I just wanted some advice, encouragement and support. thank you for your site.

    1. That is awesome! Congratulations on wanting to make a positive change in your life. Thank you for you kind words about my site, its comments liker yours that let me know that it is helping people which for me is the most fulfilling part.
Don’t despair, the symptoms that you are feeling are just temporary and withing a short period of time you will start to feel normal again.
Let us know how you are doing.

      1. Hi Curious,
It has actually been really amazing. Its been a few years since I first started this website and after I quit I never really looked back. Sure life hasnt been perfect since I no longer smoke weed but overall I would say I am in a much better place than if I had never taken the plunge and quit.

  21. I smoked heavily until for 12 years until jan 3rd and quit until last week I took maybe 3 hits out of a one hitter for 4 days straight I just found out I have to take a drug test in the next 2-5 days. Besides testing myself what else can I do to make sure I’m clean? Thanks for any suggestions!

  22. I have been a regular user for three years and started to develop serious gastric problems. After many negative tests and months of visiting specialists and the ER, I came across a CHS (cannabinoid hyperemesis syndrome) which i’m 100% I have. What is the safest and fastest way to detox? I am 5’2 and weigh around 105 pounds (due to gastric problems.) Its crazy to know that what I used to think helped ease my symptoms, may have been the problem all along!!!!

    1. Wow I have heard of people having adverse reactions to smoking weed before but to that level of severity. I just did some quick research on CHS and it sounds like a very unpleasant condition to have and I’m sorry it has taken you this long to figure out what the problem was.
It sounds like you are already pretty lean which is definitely good as THC sticks to fat cells but anything that you can do to increase your metabolism like running, swimming, cycling, or lifting weights will help to speed up the elimination of the remaining THC. In addition exercise watching your junk food intake and making sure you have a well rounded diet filled with lots of whole grains, beans, vegetables, fruits, lean meats, and of course lots of water. This would be a natural detox, of course if you wanted to you could look into a high quality detox program if you really wanted to go the extreme route. I would however recommend that you talk with your doctor before doing anything too extreme. If you really do have a condition it might be best to figure out what the exact implications and health effects will be. I would also be honest with your doctor about how you used to smoke weed and are now trying to detox from it, as you may have other allergies that are a result of CHS that you might not have known of.
I hope that wasn’t too long and helped you out some. Best of luck with your health and feel free to comment here again with some updates.

  23. Thank you for the quick response! It seems I’m doing most of this already, as I try to eat well balanced, organic meals and have very limited junk food intake. I also have a naturally (unnaturally) fast metabolism. I have been working out and plan to continue. I do have one question though: if it stores in your fat cells, and I’m already lean, does it just over saturate what I do have? And if not, where does it go? Also, does being more lean mean that I will detox faster even though I was a daily user? Thanks again!!!!

    1. No problem and I’m glad I could help. Because THC is stored in your fat, the less body fat you have the less the THC has to stick to in your body. As you burn calories and in your case if you’re already lean your body is going to metabolize the fat cells and when that happens the THC that was in those fat cells will be excreted from your body through, sweat, bodily functions and so on. This is why things like long distance running that train your body to burn fat as its energy instead of your glycogen are particularly good for speeding up the detox. You will definitely not have THC being stored in your body for as long as someone with higher body fat but going from smoking everyday to being completely detoxed will still take some time. There are too many factors like strength of weed smoked, time as a daily user, metabolism, body fat and so on for me to be able to give an exact time but you will definitely be clean faster because you have such low body fat.

  24. Hi. I am a heavy user and have been for over a year. I love smoking but I want to make sure I am still in control. I have tried quitting but by the third day I crash and I get more. I need to quit. How can I avoid the detox crash”?

    1. Hi, thank you for taking the time to stop by. Marijuana is an habitual addiction, meaning that you have become mentally accustomed to smoking weed and so when if you suddenly stop there are going to be some withdraws. The only real cure for this is time so its really just a matter of being able to stay strong until you have not smoked weed long enough to have changed your mindset and habits. This is really just a matter of will power and how much you want to change. You need a clear understanding of why exactly you want to quit smoking weed and how it is negatively impacting your life. Make a list of all the reasons why you no longer want to keep smoking and all the areas where you feel likes its hurting you. Keep this list handy and if you want to give into the cravings keep reminding yourself why you wanted to quit in the first place. If your desire for change is stronger than your desire to keep smoking pot then you will be able to deal with the withdraws. It is also very important that at least for the first month you limit your contact with people who could influence you wanting to smoke weed again. If they are your friends then just explain that you’re trying to make some changes in your life and if they really do care about you, they will understand. If not then they were never really your friends, rather just your codependents and may not like that you are trying to make something of yourself and even feel threatened because your desire to become better is a reminder to them of how they need to change. I also think it goes without saying that you absolutely have to erase all of the dealers numbers from your phone. It will be much harder to find weed if you aren’t hanging around stoners and have no way to get a hold of a weed dealer. \
for some more tips check out this post I wrote for tips to quit smoking.
Best of luck to you and please feel free to ask anymore questions you might have

  25. Niacin is the best thing for getting thc out of your system. Im a very heavy smoker (3 grams a day average). Ive taken 2-4 niacin tablets 24 hours before a urine test and passed 100% clean. Niacin works by puting your metabolism into overdrive and forcing the thc in your fat to metabolize very fast, the next time you urinate a good majority of it comes out. it also makes you sweat like crazy and makes your whole body feel hot but that only lasts for an hour or so. You can get it at most any drug store or nutrition shop for around 10$

  26. I need some help. My friend smoked daily for 3 years. He hasn’t smoked for about a month now and still came up dirty. He can’t be dirty on his next ua next month. Should he just follow the steps mentioned above? He’s about 6′ 180lbs

    1. After three years it may take a while but typically 60 days should be enough time. The best thing he can do is get as lean as possible and buy some high quality home drug tests to accurately measure his THC levels.

  27. I’ve been smoking weed everyday for the last 2 weeks or so and I have a test tomorrow how do I flush my system in time for this test.
I have a medium metabolism but do not eat as healthy as I should.

  28. Hey been smoking like two cones every second night for a month n half I have a urine test for parole in 13 days is there any ways I can guarentee a clean urine dnt feel like getting locked up again just yet I heard taking natures own cleansing multivitamin every day up to my test I will b clean is this write what’s ur suggestions thanx

  29. Hey been smoking for the last month n a half two cones every second to third night n just found out parole are going to urine me on October first if I dnt touch it until after the test would it b clean? I need a guarentee I heard that taking natures own cleansing multivitamin will help is this true
Thanks also am I classed as a moderate frequent or light user

    1. Jessie,
While I can’t guarantee that you will be clean if you were a casual smoker and have low body fat and have been exercising and eating healthy then there is a good chance you will be fine. However it will be impossible to know for sure without buying a good home drug test

  30. i am a heaviy smoker but stoped two weeks ago since then ive been swating my ass off and drinking crannberry juice do you think i will pass?

    1. Fab,
Its really hard to say for sure because there are so many factors that are in play but generally daily, long term smokers will take four to six weeks to become completely clean. Your body fat percentage and exercise levels will be a big factor but the best thing to do is to find the degree of detection being done on your sample and buy a marijuana drug test that matches that level of preciseness. You can usually find this out by searching for the type of drug test administered. For example an unsupervised pre employment screening is going to have a lower detection rate and will be more easily passed than say a supervises probabtion drug test. This is the only way to be absolutely 100% sure.

  31. hey I’ve been smoking since I was 11 and just got on probation but havnt got a p.o yet. also havnt smoked for the past week n a half. been drinking lots green tea n 3 bottles of cranberry juice. went jogging as well. I weigh 217. Pls help or I’m facing 3 months will I be good

    1. Just keep doing what you’re doing and remember that THC sticks to fat cells so the less body fat the less THC you will have in your system

      1. I have been cleaning for over 90 days and I decided to smoke for
4 days and it was mid grade and I have a drug test tomorrow which actually would be 30 days without smoking will have passed my drug test urine test

        1. Its hard to say exactly because there are a lot of variables in play but it sounds like you may be fine and be able to pass the drug test with no problems

  32. I need to pass a drug test, so I greatly appreciate this list. Thank you. I do object to the disparaging tone in the comment answers about marijuana. I haven’t smoked regularly in two months, but the choice to quit wasn’t an easy one to make – and not because I’m a “weed addict”. Weed for me has been both beneficial and negative to my life. When Im regularly smoking, I sleep much better, I have a better sex life, and I smoke significantly less cigarettes and drink alot less. I also loved getting high and exercising. I used to get high with a few friends and go hiking everytime it snowed when I was in college, which is good exercise and also serenely beautiful. Smoking regularly made me a calmer person even when I wasnt high because I was generally more relaxed.

Conversely, smoking did make me a bit lazier, and actually being high made me feel antisocial and overly introspective. I guess my point is that the choice to quit should be taken with careful consideration. Weed is certainly no worse for you than alcohol or other legal narcotics. If you have an addictive personality, then quitting something fairly benign like weed could lead to picking up a more negative habit. Just be careful and put some serious thought into your decision

    1. Hi Andrew,
Thank you for taking the time to read and share your opinion. I’m sorry if I may have sounded as if I was in some way demeaning smoking weed. In fact I am not really even anti-weed and think that it can for some people with medical or psychological disorder, be a great help in easing their pain. I definitely agree that not everything about marijuana is bad and For most people it never really becomes an issue to the point where smoking weed actually becomes a problem and they would be considered a “weed addict” and it really begins to have a significant negative impact on their lives. For some people though this isn’t the case, and while of course I would never say that marijuana is addictive in the way that hard drugs, prescriptions, alcohol or tobacco are, but like you said, with an addictive personality almost anything can be taken to an unhealthy extreme.
The main reason that I started this website was to try and provide a source for honest and truthful information. It seems like with the legalization and decriminalization of marijuana the information is either slanted heavily pro or anti weed with little unbiased information in the middle. Which if you believe them then smoking weed is a wonder drug and some of the possibly health considerations aren’t taken into account. Or the anti-weed movement which seems stuck in the past and despite the fact that we legally allow the marketing and sale of prescription drugs, tobacco and alcohol. Marijuana should still be considered a drug on the scale of cocaine or heroin. I think that like everything else in life, people should make their own minds up about what to do and be able to decide whether smoking weed is a problem, or just a fun thing they do.
Anyway, thank you again for stopping by

  33. Hi, I am a serious marijauana smoker- 7 grams a week easily for the last 4 years. I quit smoking Jan 8.15. I need to pass a test feb 9. 15. I’m 5’8″ 200 lbs. Good shape. Work out daily. I’ve been drinking detox teas. I took a detox – formula 3. Cranberry juice. Tons of water. And niacin. Do I have a chance to pass the test or not really? Thank you for your time!

    1. Hi, While its nearly impossible for me to say for sure it sounds like you will have a pretty hard time being 100% clean. If you quit on January 8th and the test is on February 9th that gives you just over a month which if you are going from 4 years of heavy usage is going to be possible but probably not likely.
One thing that it sounds like you have going for you is that your metabolism is fast from frequent exercise and you probably have low body fat which very is what THC sticks to. If I had to make a very unscientific guess I would say if you keep on working out then maybe in six weeks or so you might be clean. My advice would be to research the type of drug test it will be, and try to buy that kind of drug test to monitor your progress yourself. This gives you concrete information that you can make more educated decision from.
Good luck and I hope that helped some

  34. hey wassup and thanks for the tips!
basically i cannot work out because i have an injury, i had quit smoking for about a month then i smoked for 5 days, like 5-7 grams of good stuff and turns out i have a job interview that may drug test me, i have up to a month to clean my self up and i have been clean for about a week and a half now i just need to know my chances and i weigh 220 5’11 please an thank u

    1. Thanks for reading and I’m glad you found the information useful.
Depending on how heavily you used to smoked and on your body fat percentage (this is what THC sticks to, the more body fat then the longer the detox time) you may have a good chance of being clean. If you can’t exercise then I would still try and find some way to do some form of physical activity. Get creative and try and find some way to work around your injury. Walk, swim, just something to burn some calories. The one thing that you can however control is your diet. Try and eat as healthy as you can as the less fat you have the better your chances are. You can use this a great and motivator to get as fit and healthy as you can despite your injury. Just think that in one month you will have a new job, money in your pocket and be super healthy even though you have an injury.
      Good luck to you

  35. Hey wassup I’ve been clean for probation for 2 years on randoms but now he’s given me an exact date for me to piss and that’s in a month I’ve smoked for 2 weeks a gram a day u think I’ll be clean in a month if I follow ur tips? Thanks for ur help

    1. It’s possible but there are so many factors that go into each persons detox timetable that with limited information its impossible for me to make an accurate prediction. The best place to start is to get a home marijuana drug test kit and establish a baseline.

  36. I used to smoke a bowl every day and quit mid July early Aug (I think) since then I’ve smoked about 5 times one to two hits… The last time I smoked was a week ago. I have a possible drug test. I’ve been drinking a gallon of water… Do you think I’ll be clean for the possible drug test?

  37. I have already stop smoking weed cold turkey it has been 13 days. I just took a home test and I still tested positive for THC. I need to test clean asap to start truck driving school. What can I do to boost the process of detoxing.

    1. Unfortunately aside from a detox drink the only sure fire way to be 100% clean is to follow the tips in the article and just give your body enough time to naturally detox on its own.

  38. Hi, I’ve been smoking for around 12-13 years daily, never weighed over 75kgs, im now 28years old and have nothing in my life and was wondering if it to late for me, would do anything to quit and get back on track but i mentally cant do it and i have no one for support. Thanks for reading and hopefully caring.

    1. Hi Matt,
First thank you for stopping by the website. It is never too late to change and while it may seem like its impossible now you just have to believe in yourself but even more importantly, you have to want the change more than anything else. You are still young enough to make serious changes in your life and take it in an entirely new direction. If you don’t have anyone in your life that you can talk to then I would definitely recomend finding a substance abuse counselor or joining a support group like Marijuana Anonymous. Just google Marijuana Anonymous and your zip code or city name and to find information about meetings in your area.
Best of luck to you and feel free to keep us updated on your progress.

  39. hey all just an FYI
I’m 61 y/0 female using moderate to heavy for the past 2 yrs…… wanted to return to work and tested + after 5 wks – so no job. I continued to abstain and still tested + (with home tests) after 11 wks; so frustrating….. I had been pretty ill but lost wt the last yr and at 5’8″ and 131 lbs still + after 11 wks.
just proving how everyone is different.
maybe I should be in a study if you know of one going on……

    1. Hi,
I’m sorry to hear about not passing the test. You are right, everyone is going to be different and take different periods of time to be fully detoxed. I wish you the best of luck and don’t hesitate to comment again with another update about how long it did take you to detox.

  40. I’m a pretty heavy user about 3 blunts a day of some pretty loud Kush and I have 25 days to get clean! I’m 5’6 127 pounds and I excercise and stay active including the sauna. I only eat about once a day and don’t have a problem changing my diet. Do you think with the methods listed above that I’ll be clean in 25 days? I get tested oct 27!

    1. The fact that you have an active lifestyle and are regularly exercising is definitely good, it also sounds like you used to be a heavy user. Everyone is going to be different but not trying to be negative but only 25 days to go from being a frequent user to totally clean, while not impossible is going to be difficult.
      Best of luck to you

  41. Hi there! I was an extremely heavy marijuana smoker (1 ounce per month) until I got my dream job a week ago, September 30th. Since then I have not smoked and I will definitely be following your steps. My test is November 7th. I am 22 and 170 pounds, athletic build, but with some extra pounds. Do you think I’ll be okay or should I look at other options? Thank you so much for your great advice.

  42. hey….admin..

i will be grateful to you…buddy.:-)

  43. Been smoking for 8 years daily…maybe a gram a day. How long do you think it will take to detox naturally? I’m now 12 days clean. Just looking for a way to speed up the process

    1. It really depends on a lot of things. Mainly the amount of weed that you used to smoke, your level of body fat and the speed of your metabolism. The lower your body fat is the faster you will be able to process the THC out of your system. Try and eat as healthy as possible and if you aren’t already then try and start a regular exercise regimen to lose fat and boost the metabolism.

  44. hey I weigh 167 and the last time i smoked was last Saturday
i have a drug test Thursday what do you think is the best way to detox?
